Ivy Hughes

Born and raised in Colorado, I split my time between Colorado, England and the rest of the world.

I have been writing about travel, business, technology, innovation, urban development, politics, economics, education and health care for 10 years and have contributed to a number of publications including the Boston Globe, Amour CreoleEntrepreneur, Success, Next American City, Rustwire, MIRS, the Greeley Tribune, Dome, the Capital Area Women's Lifestyle Magazine, the Wyoming Business Report the Lansing City Pulse, Metromode, Model D, Pop City, Rapid Growth and Capital Gains. I have dallied in TV and radio and am, without a doubt, at my best hiding behind a computer screen.

I’ve been a free agent since 2007 and I love it. If I'm not reading and/or writing, which is rare, I'm running, participating in yoga contortions, cooking, feigning intellectually stimulating conversations with friends, entertaining halfcocked ideas, wandering, or people watching.

I love to travel and spent six weeks in Argentina in 2009 as part of the Rotary GSE program. In October 2010, I received a Burns Fellowship to attend the Transatlantic Media Dialogue in Essen, Germany. In 2011, I spent eight months traveling. It was marvelous.

My journal entries from kindergarten through college are genius however, I lack a scanner and am unable to add them to the site.

Fortunately, I have plenty of professional writing samples. I’ve listed a few below, but if you’re interested in reviewing additional samples, please contact me here. You may also view my resume here. Please contact me if you're interested in viewing my resume in Spanish.
